Two Arrested in Adamawa Over Theft of Church Generator Battery

Two people have been arrested in Adamawa State over alleged theft of a generator battery from a church in the capital, Yola.

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command attached to the State Intelligence Department picked up the two suspects identified as Dad Yusuf, 20 years old, and Gibson Husseini, 17 years old; both residents of Upper Luggere, Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, for allegedly stealing the 100Ah Mikano generator battery.

The police said Sunday evening that the suspects, arrested on Saturday, June 28, 2025, have confessed to stealing the battery from the LCCN Cathedral in Jimeta, on the night of June 23, 2025.

The police, in a statement released by Command spokesman Sulaiman Nguroje, said investigation is ongoing to identify more accomplices and recover more stolen items.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” the police assured.
