Former senator, Shehu Sani, has likened President Bola Tinubu’s New Year speech to that of a native doctor giving hope to a sick person.
Tinubu, who addressed the nation on Monday, January 1, 2024, announced plans to ensure a constant supply of affordable food to Nigerians. He promised to provide Nigerians with reliable power supply, as well as petroleum products.
The president also said nation’s security has improved and that his administration has been working silently to free captives from abductors.
He said though it may not have solved all the security problems confronting the country, his administration is working hard to ensure that Nigerians have peace of mind in their homes.
Tinubu said in part; “Since our administration took over the mantle of office, security has improved. Silently, we have worked to free captives from abductors.
“While we can’t beat our chest yet that we had solved all the security problems, we are working hard to ensure that we all have peace of mind in our homes, places of work and on the roads”.
Reacting to the speech, Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, said the President did not set any time for any of the promises to take effect.
He said; “The President’s speech is good and encouraging. It gives the kind of hope raised by Native Doctors; that you will be delivered from your sickness but no date.”
