Drake sleeps on N294 million mattress made out of horse hair

Canadian rapper, Aubrey Graham, known professionally as Drake sleeps like royalty, on a mattress that costs $395,000 (approximately N294 million).

It was gathered that the black ‘Grand Vividus’ mattress was made out of horse hair, wool and stingray skin.

In 2020, Drake gave fans a sneak peak into his 50,000 square-foot mansion in his hometown, Toronto, Canada, that was the first unveiling of the expensive bed.

The house which has an NBA regulation-sized indoor court and an awards room, was designed with a 20,000-piece Swarovoski crystal chandelier.

His bed dubbed “Grand Vividus,” worth a whopping $395,000 bed was produced by Hästens—a fifth-generation, family-owned Swedish bed-maker.

CEO of Hästens Los Angeles, Linus Adolfsson, explained to Complex that these ultra-luxe beds cost more than a house because each of the mattress is intended to last between 50-100 years, and is made from natural material such as horse hair, wool, cotton, and flax.

He also talked about the height of Hästens’ mattress springs, which feature a higher number of coils for extra support and comfort.

“So, how many springs, how many turns, and the last thing is layers of horse hair. The more horse hair allows for the bed to conform more, and allows for the bed to breathe more. That is the general things.

If we look at the beds from $10,000 and up to $390,000, it’s a very big difference in the amount of materials in the beds,” Adolfsson said.
