According to reports, the 35-year-old rapper was shot dead outside a popular restaurant on Florida Rd in Durban.
Police confirmed that the music star and his bodyguard had been shot dead in the late hours of Friday.
It is understood that AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down while another unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA was also pronounced dead.
Local media reports that the shooting incident occurred after Two unknown cars are believed to have opened fire just before 10pm on Friday night along Florida Road, Durban, South Africa.
Police had cordoned off the area when an IOL team arrived at the scene on Friday night.
