US to Revoke Green Cards From Nigerians, Other Nationals

The US government has warned Green Card holders, with criminal histories risk losing their residency status and facing deportation.

This decision follows recent changes to Nigerian visa policies by the US embassy.

The latest decision focuses on individuals with crimes involving dishonesty, fraud, or reprehensible behavior.

Additionally, green card holders may lose their status if they spend over 12 months outside the US without proper documentation or intent to maintain residency, which can be considered abandonment of their permanent resident status.

Furthermore, CBP warned that lawful permanent residents with prior criminal convictions may face mandatory detention upon attempting to re-enter the US at a port of entry.

Notably, this move highlights the US government’s strict approach to immigration compliance and enforcement of existing laws regarding immigration violations.
