
The US Embassy has accused Nigerian governors of lavishing billions on government houses, sparking widespread outrage.
According to reports, governors in several states allocated massive sums fo government residences and office complexes.
Some of the governors accused include Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, whose administration approved ₦63.4 billion for the renovation of the Oyo State Government House.
Additionally, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State committed ₦14.9 billion for a new ultra-modern residence and ₦14.23 billion for a House of Assembly complex.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also faced criticism for authorizing ₦20 billion for a new vice-presidential residence and a state-of-the-art presidential jet.
