Tottenham advanced to the finals of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening following a 2-0 victory over ten-man Brentford.
Moussa Sissoko opened the scoring in an early exchange before Heung-min Son wrapped the things up after the break. Josh Dasilva was sent off following a hard tackle on Hojbjerg.
Spurs opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Moussa Sissoko. The north London side worked it out to Reguilon on the left, who was given far too much space to cross into the middle and found Sissoko. The midfielder ghosted into the box and he also had far too much space but still nodded a brilliant effort into the top corner.
In the 63rd minute, Brentford netted what looked like an equalizer through Toney’s headed from a close range but there was a quick VAR check. The replays showed Toney was just off with his knee ahead of the Spurs’ last man as he latched onto the Pinnick header that was tipped into his path by Lloris.
Seven minutes later, Son made it 2-0 and it was a lethal counter-attack from Jose Mourinho’s men. Kane found Ndombele before slipping it in behind for Son who made no mistake, beating Raya from close range.
With six minutes remaining to stoppage time, Brentford were reduced to ten men after Joshua DaSilva was sent off for a foul on Hojbjerg.
Spurs will meet the winner between Manchester City and Manchester United in the finals of the Carabao Cup.
