[Sport] Man City 2-1 West Ham: The Cityzens seal 20th win in a row

Manchester City kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over high-flying West Ham at Etihad Stadium, extending their winning streak to 20 games in all competitions.

Ruben Dias nodded in his first Cityzens goal from a Kevin de Bruyne’s sublime right-wing cross on 30 minutes to put the hosts in front.

In the latter part of the half, West Ham’s game-plan to frustrate the league leaders changed, and they got their reward before the interval when Michail Antonio touched in Jesse Lingard’s shot at goal.

It was the first goal since December 15 that City had conceded on home turf.

Pep Guardiola had handed a first Premier League start since October to record scorer, Sergio Aguero, but he struggled to make an impact before being substituted just past the hour.

Instead, another center back, John Stones, calmly directed a first-time shot into the far corner from Riyad Mahrez’s pass 22 minutes from time to bring City back on track to victory.

The outcome sees Pep Guardiola’s men step 13 points clear at the top with Manchester United and Leicester City’s, their closest rivals, facing tricky meetings on Sunday.

West Ham remain fourth.

Next up, on Tuesday, City host Wolves prior to a crunch Manchester derby on Sunday at home to United. West Ham will not play again until March 8, when they fly to Leeds United.
