[Sport] Ghanaian referee collapses in AFCON qualifier, match ends in 80th minute

Referee Charles Bulu was rushed to hospital after falling ill during Ivory Coasts’ and Ethiopia’s AFCON 2021 Qualifier on Tuesday.

According to the reports, Bulu was feeling unwell in the moments leading up to his collapse, until he eventually lost consciousness in the 80th with Ivory Coast leading 3-1. The Ghanaian was also a late replacement to officiate the game, after the allocated referee tested positive for Covid-19.

Due to the fouth official being Ivorian, the game was therefore forced to end 10 minutes early, while Bulu was rushed to hospital.
