German central defender Jerome Boateng will join a new football club when he leaves Bayern Munich in June.
The club’s Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed that Boateng’s expiring contract won’t be renewed when it ends in June, after a decade at the club.
“Jerome’s contract expires in the summer. It will not be extended,” Salihamidzic told Sky.
The 32-year-old joined the Bundesliga giants in 2010 from Manchester City for €12,5m, before winning eight league titles and the FIFA World Cup with Germany in 2014.
Meanwhile, Boateng has made 31 appearances with two goals and one assist this season under manager Hansi Flick, whose first central defensive options include David Alaba, Niklas Sule and French teen Tanguy Nianzou.
