The South African Football Association (SAFA) have fired coach Molefi Ntseki for failing to qualify for AFCON 2021.
Bafana Bafana lost 2-0 to Sudan last Sunday to finish third behind the group’s qualifiers Ghana and Sudan.
Ntseki was surprisingly promoted to head coach in 2019, after serving for several years as an assistant to former coach Stuart Baxter, including the AFCON 2019 where South Africa made the quater-finals, before Baxter resigned after the event.
Ntseki’s sacking was announced on Wednesday in a live press conference held in Johannesburg.
Meanwhile, there is yet to be any forwarded possible successors. The issue does not lie in coaching, but the FA’s deep incompetence.
Leading analysts have emphasised that the FA is led by non-footballing members with irrelevant knowledge, experience, passion and skills, while misappropriating the country’s wealth of finance, world class facilities and talent.
