Nigerians sign online petition to ‘ban Marlian Music’

Over 50,000 people have signed a petition to ban Naira Marley-owned Marlian Music because it is ”a drug syndicate disguised as a record label.”

The petition was launched on following the death of ex-Marlian Music artiste, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Months before his sudden demise, the signee had alleged threats to his life by his former boss, Naira Marley and some boys loyal to him.

Despite the police saying they have launched an investigation into the rapper’s death, irate fans have begun signing a petition online.

The campaign titled: “Ban Marlian Music” has garnered over 50,000 signatures as of the time of filing this report.

Giving reasons for the petition, the advocates alleged that the record label recruits young boys to peddle drugs as well as indulge in drug-related activities.

Alongside some uploaded pictures of Naira Marley with his artistes, the campaigners stated that “it could be seen in a trending case of ex-signee Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad/Imole; how his life was cut short, how his fundamental rights as a human being was trampled upon just before his demise.

“The perpetrators of the acts include Sam Larry And Naira Marley as evidences are being opened up to the public how he was beaten, trailed as well as killed by these men – Sam Larry And Naira Marley.

“The Nigerian Police Force received this petition in June 2023, they refused to act claiming he didn’t show up when he was invited to defend his petition against his adversaries – Sam Larry and others after months of waiting. Sam Larry was said to have filed a counter petition against Mohbad.”
