Nigerian Government Provides Update On  Power Outage in Northern States

The Nigerian government has announced that electricity will soon be restored to several northern states that have experienced a weeklong blackout.

This was disclosed in a statement through the official account of Nigeria National Grid on Saturday.

According to the statement, temporary 400 megawatts of power is expected to be supplied to the region through the Ugwuaji APIR Line.

This comes as a statement on Saturday through X by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s special adviser on public communications, Sunday Dare, who revealed that the Office of National Security Adviser, NSA, is coordinating a joint effort between the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Kaduna Headquarters and the Army to surveil the 330 kV Shiroro-Kaduna lines 1 and 2, which were recently vandalised.

Earlier, Transmission Company Nigeria said its team has successfully identified the faults and is actively working to rectify them.

“Restoration of Line L2 is nearing completion, and work on the second line will commence promptly afterward,” TCN stated.

According to Emeraldloaded, Plateau, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Benue, Katsina, Taraba, Gombe, Borno, Nasarawa, and other northern states were left without power due to a national grid collapse.
