Residents of Kano have expressed serious concern after a video surfaced showing a herdsman openly carrying a firearm while herding cattle along a busy road in the state.
The footage, shared online was reportedly recorded in the Dawanau area of Kano. It showed the man with a gun strapped to his body as he guided his flock through the street in broad daylight.
In the video, the person filming could be heard saying, “Kano has also begun to receive visitors; this is the scene we are seeing in Dawanau area,” drawing attention to the unusual sight.
The video has since sparked varied reactions on social media, with many users expressing concern over public safety and questioning how an armed individual could move freely in a densely populated area without intervention especially given ongoing security challenges across parts of the country.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from security authorities in Kano State regarding the video.
