EPL: Arsenal Shouldn’t not feel like failures after losing title – Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said Arsenal will not feel like “failures” after losing out on the Premier League title.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup final against Manchester United, Guardiola insisted that not winning a trophy does not mean the team failed.

City won the title ahead of the Gunners for the second season running following their final day win over West Ham, which saw the champions finish two points clear of the Gunners.

Following the news that the boss of Guardiola’s former club Barcelona, Xavi, had been sacked, the City boss says current managers are at a high risk of losing their jobs if they do not win, regardless of their past achievements.

“In our job you have to win, otherwise you are in a dangerous position,” he said,

“Whatever club, no matter your trajectory, no matter if it is new or old, you have to win and do a good job and be good with many things otherwise it happens unfortunately.

“But people have to understand that just one win can win. All the others are failures? I don’t think so, honestly.

“I would not feel like a failure if I did not win the Premier League and I think Arsenal do not feel that because they performed incredibly.

“But our job is what it is. If you don’t accept that, it’s better you don’t do this job.”
