BORNO: Boko Haram In Military Uniforms Kills 12, Abducts 1 In Chibok

In the Gatamarwa and Tsiha areas in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, there have apparently been 12 deaths and one kidnapping by men dressed in military uniforms who are thought to be Boko Haram militants.

Twelve corpses were found, according to Borno State Command Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, who confirmed the attack.

He said: “The gunmen shot sporadically at the people in the two communities. So far, 12 corpses were recovered and two were injured.”

According to a spokesman for the security agency, the police commissioner and other security chiefs had directed a covert inquiry into the situation in order to apprehend the offenders.

During the New Year’s celebration on Monday, the terrorists reportedly broke into the town of Gatamarwa at approximately 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, sources told Daily Trust that armed insurgents had invaded the settlements in significant numbers.

“The insurgents who were heavily armed with AK-47 rifles, came on motorcycles, in Hilux vans and opened fire on mourners returning from Gatamarwa.

“They later attacked another Tsiha community near Shikarkir and killed three people and abducted a young lady. They burnt houses after looting their foodstuffs,” he said.

That the latest attack came barely two weeks after the insurgents perpetrated a similar attack in Chibok, where they killed two persons and looted food stuff in some houses before settling them ablaze.
