The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi State has lifted its earlier ban on gas cylinders for student cooking but restricted usage to only 3kg cylinders.
During the orientation ceremony for newly admitted students on Sunday, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Sa’id Umar, announced the decision.
After reviewing the policy, he explained that the university aligned its regulations with other institutions, allowing only 3kg cylinders. Any student found using a larger cylinder will have it confiscated.
Umar added that in collaboration with the Student Union Government (SUG), the Student Affairs Division has drafted guidelines on gas cylinder usage and hostel management.
