Panic in Jos as Hyena Reportedly escapes from Wildlife Park

A Hyena at the Wild Life Park in Jos, Plateau State capital, has escaped from captivity.

It was learnt that the animal escaped from the cage when it was being fed, a development which created tension among residents in the state.

Some residents especially those living close to the park are in massive panic and had to stay indoors for fear of being attacked by the strayed Hyena.

In an official statement issues by the Plateau Tourism Managing Director, the management assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to locate and safely return the hyena to its cage. The search team is working diligently to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Residents are urged to remain calm and avoid any contact with the hyena if it is spotted.

“It is believed that the animal is still within the premises of the park and the Park Rangers/Zoologist are working to recapture it.

Members of the public are urged to be vigilant.  As security agencies will show up  to the park’s for assistance to do everything possible to recapture the animal.”

The Plateau State Tourism Corporation has promised to keep the public informed with updates as the situation unfolds.

The public is advised to notify park authorities immediately through 09026927620 or 09131000945 if they see the animal.
