EPL: West Ham midfielder, Paqueta faces 10-year ban

The football career of West Ham midfielder, Lucas Paqueta, could come to an ignoble end as he risks ten years ban from the sport over gambling activities.

The English football association on Thursday slammed a four-count charge on the Brazilian for spot-fixing in Premier League games.

Paqueta is accused of knowingly getting booked in an attempt to influence betting markets.

The FA listed the matches against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth as the fixtures.

Mail Sport reports that the betting scandal has hindered a proposed £80 million summer transfer to Manchester City, with the champions withdrawing their interest.

However, a huge ban is inevitable if he is found guilty of any of the charges.

Former Reading defender Kynan Isaac was given a career-ending 10-year ban from football for deliberately being booked while playing for Stratford Town in an FA Cup first-round tie against Shrewsbury three years ago
