Davido pledges N300 million donation to orphanage homes in Nigeria

Superstar singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, has announced that he will be donating the sum of N300 million to orphanages across Nigeria this year.

He made the pledge through his official Twitter account on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, while explaining that the outreach will be coordinated through his foundation.

Davido stated that he is keeping up with the annual tradition of contributing to the nation that was started few years ago. He said details of the disbursement will be unveiled soon.

The musician wrote; “I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria … as my yearly contribution to the Nation ❤️ .. details of disbursement tomorrow 🇳🇬”

This is not the first time The DMW boss is engaging in charitable courses as he donated N237 million to 424 orphanages last year.

The ‘over them all’ crooner said that individuals and cooperations across various sectors and regions contributed to the donation and the funds were disbursed through the David Adeleke Foundation, DAF.

According to a statement Davido released, a total of 13, 818 children benefited from the donation, which he noted encapsulates his motto of ‘We Rise By Lifting Others’.

He wrote: “I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so.

“We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday. Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives. This is what I mean when I say we rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!”

In 2022, Davido donated N250 million to 292 orphanages in Nigeria, fulfilling the promise he made on his birthday in 2021.
