31 persons have reportedly lost their lives during a programme organised by a church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The unfortunate incident occurred when hundreds of people showed up to receive food at King’s Assembly Church’s ‘Shop For Free Programme’ at Port Harcourt Polo Club.
The crowd broke through a gate, and rushed to where the food was meant to be shared thereby causing the stampede.
The Rivers State Police PPRO, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed to NAN that it led to the death of 31 persons.
