The Nigeria Police Force has launched a probe into an officer who allegedly engaged in the consumption of an illicit drug known as cannabis (weed) on duty.
A photo which went viral on Friday, April 8 captured the officer holding weed in his right hand while sitting on a chair in the Ijora area of Lagos state.
Speaking in reaction to the photo, Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the policeman will face disciplinary action from the office of the Inspector-General of Police.
In a statement he released on Twitter, he said the Lagos State Command has been contacted to fish him out and commence necessary action.
”The police have commenced necessary action on this ugly scene. We have contacted Lagos Command to fish him out, name and shame him, and necessary disciplinary action will be taken from the office of the IGP with immediate effect.,” he said.
