The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, on Tuesday said reports of President Bola Tinubu replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima with a new running mate did not emanate from the party.
Morka explained that the APC has placed a prohibition on political activities.
There have been rumours that Tinubu would replace Shettima with a new running mate ahead of the APC’s 2027 primaries.
Dismissing this claims on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Morka said: “It was not coming from us. It was not something that we put out. Because first of all, I’m sure you understand that. The prohibition on political activities is still in force.
“So our party is not engaging the question of political activities and who will be on the ticket.
“We have a serving president and a serving vice president today. So we have yet to activate our systems in accordance with INEC’s guidelines and regulations to engage that conversation.
“So you know, after quite some months and it assumed a new dimension when recently forward in circulation in the media as a possible replacement for the Vice President.
“Now we’re a political party, and so to make sure that Nigerians are not mistaking these rumors and speculations as emanating from our party, we had to make that clarification.”
