Belgium 2-3 France: Le Bleus complete incredible comeback, book spot in UEFA Nations League Finals

France came from two goals down to register a 3-2 victory over Belgium to book a spot in the finals of the UEFA Nations League.

France slowly started knocking on Belgium’s door as Pavard picked up a nice head that was stopped by Courtois.

Despite early threats from France, Belgium took the lead in the 37th minute through Yannick Carrasco. The Atletico Madrid star got the ball down the left flank thanks to a beautiful pass from Kevin De Bruyne. The winger broke into the area after some poor defending by Pavard and unleashed a shot down Lloris’ tight angle.

Minutes later, Belgium got their second through Romelu Lukaku. It came out of nowhere as De Bruyne found Lukaku with a wonderful pass from the right flank. The Chelsea star found himself down the right side of the area and beat Lloris down his tight angle with a powerful shot.

In the 62nd minute, France pulled one back through Karim Benzema. Mbappe delivered a low cross from the left and found Benzema, who turned around Denayer and beat Courtois with a fine shot down his club team-mate’s bottom-left corner.

Six minutes later, Antonio Griezmann was brought down inside the danger zone by Tielemans, and the referee pointed for a penalty kick. There was a quick VAR check and the decision stood.

Kylian Mbappe stepped up to take and made no mistake, as he helped France complete a stunning comeback in just seven minutes.

Few minutes to stoppage time, Romelu Lukaku grabbed his second of the game but unfortunately, it was ruled out as there was an offside in the build-up.

France went close to taking the lead from a freekick, but Paul Pogba was denied by the post having beaten Courtois.

France completed an incredible comeback as Pavard delivers a cross from the right that was deflected by Alderweireld. The ball reached Theo on the other side and he beats Courtois with a marvelous shot that meets a weak save from Courtois.

Didier Deschamps men will now face Spain in the finals of the UEFA Nations League on Sunday 10th.
